The Cox’s Bazar Marathon, a flagship event organized by the Cox’s Bazar Runners Community (CBRC), marks a new era for the tourism capital, introducing the first-ever marathon by the Cox’s Bazar Runners Society. This initiative aims to foster a culture of running and active living, uniting the community for a shared purpose while highlighting Cox’s Bazar’s natural beauty on a global scale.
The vision for hosting a marathon in Cox’s Bazar has been years in the making. As Bangladesh’s premier tourist destination, encircled by mountains and the sea, Cox’s Bazar holds unique national and international appeal. It’s a must-visit for almost every Bangladeshi, and with each day, the city’s global reputation as a natural paradise continues to grow. Cox’s Bazar’s marine resources, safe beaches, and the picturesque Marine Drive make it the perfect setting for a world-class event.
Our aim is to combine Cox’s Bazar’s natural beauty with the rising popularity of marathon events, elevating the city on the world stage. This marathon not only promotes health and active living but also enhances awareness of Cox’s Bazar as a clean, eco-friendly destination. This vision took shape in December 2023 with the “Cox’s Bazar Run” (7.5 km), held along the city’s beaches. Its success has fueled our ambition to expand into a full-scale marathon event with 42 km, 21 km, and 10 km races, alongside a 2.5 km fun run.
